IIT Dhanbad Executive MBA gets strong response from working professionals

 Dhanbad, May 8: The Executive MBA Programme of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, has received a strong response from working professionals and entrepreneurs across sectors, with more than 50 applications already received for the 2026–28 session, officials said during a press conference held on Thursday at the conference hall of the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering.

The Executive MBA programme, offered by the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, is specially designed for working professionals, executives and entrepreneurs who wish to pursue management education while continuing their professional commitments.

Introduced in 2012, the programme is now being conducted as a two-year course comprising four semesters.

The press conference was addressed by Prof. Sandeep Mondal, Head of the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering; Prof. Niladri Das, Coordinator, Executive MBA Programme; Prof. Rashmi Singh, Co-Coordinator, Executive MBA Programme; and Prof. Shashank Bansal, Co-Coordinator, Executive MBA Programme.

Flexible Online Classes for Working Professionals

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sandeep Mondal said the programme has been structured to help professionals strengthen managerial and leadership capabilities in a rapidly evolving business environment.

“The Executive MBA programme at IIT (ISM) is aimed at equipping working professionals with contemporary management knowledge and strategic decision-making skills without interrupting their careers,” he said.

He further informed that the response to the programme this year has been encouraging, with over 50 applications already received.

The programme is conducted primarily in online mode. Classes are scheduled from Wednesday to Saturday between 7 pm and 9:50 pm, while Sunday sessions are held from 10 am to 5:50 pm.

However, mid-semester and end-semester examinations are conducted in physical mode at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and the institute’s extension centres in Kolkata and Delhi.

Admission Process and Eligibility Criteria

Prof. Niladri Das said candidates seeking admission will have to appear for a written entrance test to be conducted at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

“The written test will assess managerial aptitude and general awareness of candidates. Shortlisted applicants will subsequently appear for an online interview, and the final selection will be based on the combined performance in the written test and interview,” he said.

Officials informed that professionals from reputed organisations, including Coal India and its subsidiaries, SBI and other public sector banks, HDFC Bank, SAIL, Tata Steel, Tata Power, Tata Motors, NTPC, Indian Railways, Infosys, PwC, ONGC and IOCL, have participated in the programme in previous years.

Prof. Rashmi Singh highlighted the eligibility criteria for the programme. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree (10+2+3 or equivalent) with at least 50% aggregate marks, while candidates belonging to SC, ST and Persons with Disability categories require a minimum of 45% marks.

Applicants must also have at least one year of post-qualification work experience.

Entrepreneurs applying for the programme should have registered firms with a minimum annual turnover of ₹200 lakh supported by audited financial statements.

Last Date to Apply is May 31

Prof. Shashank Bansal urged interested candidates to apply online through the institute website at www.iitism.ac.in before the last date.

The application fee for the programme is ₹2,000.

Officials informed that the last date for submission of applications is May 31, 2026. The written entrance test will be conducted on June 14, followed by online interviews on June 16 and 17.

The result is tentatively scheduled to be declared on July 3, while admissions of selected candidates will be completed between July 6 and July 13. Classes for the new batch will commence from July 25, 2026.
