IIT ISM Dhanbad, SECL to organize EDP on financial management

Dhanbad, May 29: The Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering (DMSIE) at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, in collaboration with South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), Bilaspur, will organize a five-day Executive Development Programme (EDP) on Project and Financial Management from June 2 to 6.

The inaugural session will be conducted in hybrid mode, with IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra presiding over the event virtually. The program is jointly coordinated by Prof. Rashmi Singh and Prof. Niladri Das of IIT (ISM).

An IIT (ISM) official stated that the program is designed to enhance managerial competencies in project and financial management, with a strong focus on practical applications through the use of modern project management tools and simulation software.

Several experts will lead sessions during the five-day event. Prof. Pramod Pathak, former professor at IIT (ISM), will deliver a talk on human resource issues in the coal mining sector. Prof. J.K. Pattanayak will speak on strategic financial management in the mining industry.

Prof. Sandeep Mondal, Head of DMSIE, will present on project scheduling using network techniques. Prof. Rashmi Singh will cover risk analysis and simulation modeling in mining, while Prof. Niladri Das will lead sessions on financial statement analysis, capital budgeting, and social cost-benefit analysis. Prof. Ganesh Shukla, Assistant Professor at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, will speak on sustainability issues in mining projects.

From SECL, several senior officials will address the program, including Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, Director (Personnel) Biranchi Das, General Manager (HRD) Bipra Charan Sethi, and Chief Manager (Mining), HRD, Srikant Mahapatra.
