Dhanbad, April 11: The Observational Seismology Laboratory of the Department of Applied Geophysics at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad organised an “Earthquake Information and Awareness Outreach Program” for students of G.S. Adiwasi High School, Yadavpur, on Friday.

The programme aimed to improve scientific awareness and preparedness among school students about earthquake hazards. Prof. Mohit Agrawal led an interactive session, explaining the basics of earthquakes, their causes, and practical steps to reduce risks. He emphasised that awareness and preparedness are key to minimising the impact of natural disasters and building resilient communities.

Interactive session with hands-on learning

Students took part in practical learning through models and demonstrations, supported by research scholars, master’s students, and project assistants. The session focused on making complex scientific concepts easy to understand and relatable.
