Dhanbad, Dec 16: The day-long annual conference of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Academy of Medical Specialties Jharkhand chapter concluded here at Dhanbad Club this evening.
National chairman of IMA Academy of Medical Specialities, Dr Pankaj Mutreja, who belongs to Haryana, while inaugurating the conference, highly appreciated the activities of the Jharkhand chapter and expressed surprise over the non-implementation of the Medical Protection Act (MPA) in the state.
“It is sheer surprising that Haryana implemented the Act 12 years ago, but Jharkhand has yet to adopt it”, said Dr Mutrja, who came here from Chandigarh to attend the conference as chief guest.

Earlier, IMA state president Dr AK Singh informed the participant’s specialists doctors about the activities being done by the Jharkhand chapter. Over 200 specialist doctors of the state and across the country participated in the conference.
IMA state secretary Dr Pradip Kumar Singh, former IMA national vice-president Dr Ajay Kumar Singh, Dr Shambhu Prasad Singh ( all from Ranchi), Dr Anupriya ( Chas Bokaro), Dr Meeta Singh ( Giridih), Dr Tiwari and Dr Gaurishankar ( Deoghar), Dr Vidyabhushan ( Giridih), Dr VK Pandey, Dr Major Chandan ( all Dhanbad) were prominent who attended.
IMA president Dr AK Singh said that on the occasion, an executive committee meeting of the IMA state body was held in which members expressed concern over the delay in the implementation of the Medical Protection Act. “The state government had assured to pass the Act in one month, but even after 10 months, no step has been taken so far. IMA urges the chief minister to pass the Act in the present assembly session,” said Dr Singh.
