Dhanbad, May 10: In light of the ongoing Operation Sindoor and heightened national security concerns, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jharkhand chapter, has appealed to its members to refrain from all non-essential social engagements in order to remain available for emergency medical duties.

Doctors Asked to Prioritize Professional Duty Over Social Engagements
A formal communication was issued on Saturday by IMA Jharkhand president Dr. A.K. Singh and secretary Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh to all district branches, advising doctors to avoid social functions unless absolutely necessary.
The letter emphasized that at this critical juncture, the country needs its medical professionals to stand ready, and fulfilling their duty should be seen as an act of patriotism.

This state-level advisory follows a directive from IMA’s national leadership, including national president Dr. Dilip Bhanushali and secretary general Dr. Sarbari Dutta. The letter urges medical personnel to remain mentally and physically prepared for any emergency situation that may arise.
State Cancels Leave for Medical Staff as Precautionary Measure
The Jharkhand government has already taken proactive steps by cancelling all leave for medical officers and healthcare staff in view of the ongoing border conflict. This move is aimed at ensuring that the medical infrastructure is adequately supported in case of emergency scenarios.
IMA reiterated that Operation Sindoor is more than a military campaign—it is a national call to service.
“We sincerely and wholeheartedly urge each of you (doctors) to temporarily step away from all non-essential social commitments and stay fully alert, vigilant, mentally and physically prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to any emergency crisis that may emerge at any time”, Dr AK Singh and Dr Pradeep Kumar Singh said in the directive.
