IMD forecasts four days of heavy rain, thunderstorms in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, August 26: Jharkhand is likely to experience another spell of unsettled weather over the next four days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rain at isolated places, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across different parts of the state.

The weather system is expected to affect different regions of Jharkhand between August 26 and 29, with the areas likely to receive heavy rain shifting between southern and central districts.

Heavy rain likely in southern Jharkhand on August 26

On August 26, heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Simdega and West Singhbhum, along with adjoining areas of Gumla and Khunti in central Jharkhand.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may occur at isolated places across the state.

Central districts to receive heavy rain on August 27

Weather activity is expected to continue on August 27, with heavy rain forecast at isolated places in central Jharkhand.

The affected areas may include Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Bokaro and Dhanbad, along with adjoining parts of Chatra and Giridih.

The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph at isolated locations.

Heavy rain shifts to southern districts on August 28

On August 28, the focus of heavy rainfall is expected to shift back to southern Jharkhand.

Simdega and West Singhbhum, along with adjoining areas of Gumla, are likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds may continue at isolated locations across the state.

Rain and thunderstorms likely to continue on August 29

The unsettled weather is likely to persist on August 29, with heavy rain forecast at isolated places in southern Jharkhand.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may also occur at isolated locations.

The recurring possibility of lightning and strong winds has prompted a need for caution, particularly during thunderstorms.

Residents are advised to avoid open and exposed areas during lightning activity and take shelter inside safe buildings. People should also avoid standing under isolated trees or near electrical infrastructure during thunderstorms.
