PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Ranchi, July 21: Jharkhand is set to witness a pleasant spell of monsoon weather on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting cloudy skies over at least 13 districts and light to moderate rainfall across the state. The latest Jharkhand weather forecast also warns of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in isolated areas.

According to the IMD, the prevailing synoptic conditions remain favourable for widespread monsoon activity over Jharkhand. The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends from Sri Ganganagar through Rohtak, Hardoi, Varanasi, Daltonganj, Purulia and Digha before stretching southeast towards the northeast Bay of Bengal.

An upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Jharkhand and adjoining Bihar, extending up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, continues to influence weather conditions. An associated trough extends from this circulation to Tripura through north Gangetic West Bengal and Bangladesh, providing additional support for rainfall across the region.

Under the influence of these weather systems, isolated places across Jharkhand are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph on Tuesday.

The IMD has advised residents to remain alert, especially during thunderstorms, and to follow weather advisories issued by local authorities.

“The current synoptic conditions are conducive to sustained monsoon activity over Jharkhand. Residents, particularly in districts likely to receive heavy rainfall, should remain alert and follow weather advisories issued by local authorities,” an IMD official said.

With active monsoon systems in place, most parts of Jharkhand are expected to experience pleasant weather over the next few days, while rainfall is likely to benefit agriculture and improve overall monsoon conditions.
