Similar weather conditions are forecast for October 6 and 7, with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds likely at isolated places.

The depression currently lies over interior Odisha near latitude 20.7°N and longitude 83.7°E, approximately 60 Km west-northwest of Phulbani, 100 Km north-northeast of Bhawanipatna, and 90 Km south-southwest of Sambalpur.

It is moving north-northwestwards at a speed of 15 Kmph and is expected to gradually weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 24 hours.

A trough extending from the depression over interior Odisha to northwest Madhya Pradesh across Chhattisgarh, between 1.5 and 3.1 Km above mean sea level, is further enhancing monsoon activity.

IMD noted that monsoon conditions remained vigorous over Jharkhand.

The state administration has urged residents to remain alert, especially in vulnerable areas, and to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorm.
