Jamshedpur, July 23: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a multi-day weather alert for Jharkhand, forecasting heavy rainfall across various parts of the state from July 24 to July 27.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also likely to affect isolated areas throughout this period.
Forecast Highlights
July 24:

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over south-eastern parts of Jharkhand.
Additional alerts include: Heavy rainfall over eastern districts. Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places across the state.
July 25:
The region will continue to experience intense rainfall, especially over south-eastern and north-eastern districts.
Heavy rain is expected across most districts, barring a few in the north-west.
Thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning will remain a risk.

July 26:
Heavy rainfall is likely over southern and central districts.
Thunderstorm/lightning with winds up to 40 kmph may strike isolated regions.
July 27:
A statewide alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.
Weather Systems in Play
The monsoon trough at mean sea level now runs from Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan) through Rohtak, Lucknow, Varanasi, Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, and Contai, extending into the northeast Bay of Bengal.
An upper air cyclonic circulation persists over northeast Jharkhand, extending up to 1.5 Km above mean sea level.
A fresh low-pressure area is expected to develop over the north Bay of Bengal around July 24, further intensifying rainfall activity over the region.
Recent Weather Conditions
In the past 24 hours, the monsoon remained weak over Jharkhand. Only light to moderate rainfall was observed at a few places, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms.
