Jamshedpur, Feb 18: Several places across Jharkhand are expected to witness light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning around mid-week.

IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued an alert of light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning especially in southern and central Jharkhand around mid-week on February 19.

The forecast indicated the possibility of rain or thundershowers in isolated pockets of the state on Wednesday and Thursday (February 19 -20).

A Western Disturbance seen as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 Km above mean sea level runs roughly along Long. 67°E to the north of Lat. 33°N.

An induced cyclonic circulation was hovering over West Rajasthan at 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Satellite pictures suggest another cyclonic circulation over southwest Madhya Pradesh at 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

The Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 3.1 Km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 71°E to the north of Lat. 33°N has moved away east northeastwards.

Weathermen said the minimum temperature would continue to witness an upward trend for the next few days.

Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 14.4 degrees Celsius while Jamshedpur was warmer at 17.4 degrees and Daltonganj recorded 13.5 degrees.

Gumla recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature of 9.8 degrees Celsius today.
