New Delhi, July 28: Opposition MPs from the INDIA bloc, led by senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi, staged a strong demonstration on Monday inside the Parliament House complex, demanding that the Election Commission withdraw its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

The protest, which marked the fifth consecutive day of opposition agitation, saw leaders carrying placards reading “Stop SIR” and standing in front of a large banner declaring “SIR – Attack on Democracy.”

The demonstration brought together prominent figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Akhilesh Yadav, Kanimozhi, A Raja, Derek O’Brien, and Sagarika Ghose, alongside MPs from the DMK, TMC, RJD, Samajwadi Party, and Left parties.

They gathered near the steps of the Makar Dwar of Parliament, raising slogans and accusing the Election Commission of attempting to “disenfranchise voters” in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Opposition parties have also been disrupting proceedings in both Houses, pressing for an immediate discussion on the issue.
