Indian Express’ 100 most powerful Indians: PM Modi tops the list, Rahul Gandhi at Ninth, Hemant Soren at 40th

New Delhi, March 29: The Indian Express has released its annual list of the 100 most powerful Indians, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi securing the top position. Home Minister Amit Shah is ranked second, followed by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at third and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat at fourth.

The list features key political figures such as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi (9th), Defence Minister Rajnath Singh (7th), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath (6th).

Prominent Business Leaders and Public Figures

Among industrialists, Mukesh Ambani is ranked 10th, while Gautam Adani follows at 11th. Ashwini Vaishnaw is in the eighth position, and Piyush Goyal and Devendra Fadnavis hold the 12th and 13th spots, respectively.

The list also includes notable figures from sports, cinema, and public administration, such as:

  • Cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
  • Chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand
  • Actors Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Vijay, and Allu Arjun
  • Filmmaker Karan Johar and singer Diljit Dosanjh

State Leaders and Opposition Leaders

The ranking also highlights several Chief Ministers, including:

  • Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren (40th), a significant jump from last year’s 93rd position
  • Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu (14th)
  • Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah (20th), Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin (23rd), and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy (28th)
  • Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan (73rd)
  • AIMIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi (89th)

The Chief Justice of India is ranked 45th on the list.
