Jamshedpur, Nov 27: With Christmas approaching, Jamshedpur is glowing with festive spirit. Hotels, clubs and community organisations across the city have begun hosting traditional Cake Mixing Ceremonies, an age-old ritual that marks the start of the Christmas season.
Adding to this festive excitement, Vivanta Jamshedpur, Golmuri organised a vibrant Cake Mixing Ceremony on Tuesday evening at the Vibgyor Hall.
Community Joins in for the Traditional Mixing
The event saw enthusiastic participation from special guests, hotel associates, and community members, who came together to celebrate this cherished tradition.

Guests gathered around large trays filled with raisins, almonds, cashews, pistachios, and aromatic Christmas spices, joyfully taking part in the mixing process.
Stalls displaying a variety of cakes and bakery items also attracted visitors.
Music, Carols and a Festive Ambience
The celebration featured carol singing, live music, and a beautifully decorated festive setting, adding charm to the evening. From children to adults, everyone enjoyed being part of this seasonal ritual.
According to the hotel management, the Cake Mixing Ceremony marks the first stage of Christmas preparations. The mixed dry fruits and spices are soaked in wine or liqueur for several weeks before they are used to bake traditional Christmas fruit cakes.
Vivanta Plans Special Festive Events
Hotel Manager Vijay Kumar expressed happiness at hosting the event, calling it the formal beginning of the Christmas and New Year celebrations at Vivanta.
He extended warm wishes of Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the people of Jamshedpur and shared that several special events are planned for guests of all ages this season.

Traditional Process for Christmas Fruit Cakes
The evening concluded with greetings and cheer as the mixed ingredients were set aside for marination—soon to be turned into delicious, aromatic Christmas fruit cakes.
The Cake Mixing Ceremony, celebrated worldwide, involves combining dry fruits like raisins, apricots, prunes and currants with nuts such as almonds and walnuts, along with spices including cinnamon and nutmeg, before soaking them in rum or brandy to prepare the perfect base for classic Christmas cakes.
