PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, February 25: Jamshedpur will remain under tight security on February 26 as President Droupadi Murmu visits the city for official engagements. Authorities have imposed a no-fly zone, traffic diversions and vehicle movement restrictions across key routes ahead of the President’s arrival.

The district administration, along with police and central security agencies, has put in place elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth movement during the President’s Jamshedpur visit.

President Murmu’s Jamshedpur Itinerary

According to the official schedule, President Murmu will land at Sonari Airport at 12 noon before proceeding to Kadma for the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony at the Shri Jagannath Adhyatmik & Sanskritik Trust premises along Marine Drive.

After the ceremony, she will travel to Manipal Tata Medical College in Baridih for a scheduled programme. The President is expected to return to Sonari Airport by 3.40 pm and depart for Ranchi at 3.50 pm.

No-Fly Zone in Jamshedpur

In view of the VVIP movement, Jamshedpur has been declared a no-fly zone from morning till evening on 26 February. The restriction covers drones, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), paragliders and other airborne devices as part of standard security protocol during the President’s visit.

Traffic Advisory and Route Diversions

A detailed traffic advisory has been issued to manage vehicular movement during the President’s visit to Jamshedpur:

  • Bus services from Jai Prakash Narayan Bus Terminal, Bhuiyandih, will remain suspended between 11 am and 4.30 pm.
  • Long-distance buses will operate from Dimna Chowk.
  • Buses bound for Odisha and Chaibasa will run from Tatanagar Railway Station and Bistupur.
  • Movement of heavy and goods vehicles will remain restricted from 6 am to 11 pm.
  • Traffic on Jay Prakash Setu (Mango) will be halted 30 minutes before the presidential convoy passes.
  • Dobo Bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic during the specified hours.

Security personnel will be stationed along convoy routes, with checkpoints set up at strategic points across the city.

The district administration has urged residents to cooperate with authorities, avoid unnecessary travel on designated routes and follow traffic advisories to ensure smooth arrangements during President Murmu’s visit.
