Jamshedpur, March 30: A wave of anger and grief swept through Jamshedpur on Monday as residents took to the streets to protest the brutal assault and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Vishnugarh, Hazaribagh.
Protest march led by BJP Mahila Morcha
The protest, led by the BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar Mahila Morcha, saw a large turnout outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The march began from the BJP’s Sakchi office, with demonstrators carrying placards and raising slogans demanding justice and strict punishment for the accused.
The procession concluded at the district administrative headquarters.

Leaders demand compensation, fast-track trial
Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Das Sahu, BJP Mahanagar President Sanjeev Sinha, and other senior leaders joined the protest. Addressing the gathering, Sahu became emotional while speaking about the incident and criticised the state government over women’s safety.
She demanded ₹50 lakh compensation for the victim’s family, a transparent and time-bound investigation, and strict punishment for those involved.

A memorandum was submitted to the state government through the Deputy Commissioner, seeking a fast-track court trial, immediate arrest of the accused, and security for the victim’s family.
Mahila Morcha leaders condemned the crime and said the protest would continue until justice is delivered.
The incident, which took place on March 28 in Vishnugarh, has triggered widespread outrage across Jharkhand, with growing calls for swift action.
