Jamshedpur, May 25: The city has reason to celebrate as Shreyash Shekhar, a resident of Sonari and Class 11 student of DAV Public School, Bistupur, has been selected to represent India in the Junior Roll Ball Under-17 Championship 2025, scheduled to be held in Kenya and South Africa from June 22 to 29.

Shreyash’s selection was finalised after a rigorous selection process held recently in Indore, following which the Roll Ball Federation of India announced the official list of players. He is the only player from Jharkhand to make it to the national squad, making his selection a proud moment for both Jamshedpur and the state.

Shreyash is the son of Vijay Srivastava, who works with Tata Steel’s Sinter Plant and serves as a committee member there. He is also the younger brother of BJP leader Ajay Srivastava. The entire family is overjoyed with this achievement, and the city’s sporting community has also expressed pride in his success.
“My dream is to bring glory to India through my performance. Wearing the national jersey is a great honour, and I will give my best to make the country proud,” said an elated Shreyash, who has been working hard to hone his skills in the fast-paced game of Roll Ball.

The final team list released by the Federation includes 12 players from across the country:B Vyas (Tamil Nadu), Ayus h Gora (Rajasthan), Dharsh Godhani (Gujarat), Veer P Sindhu (Assam), Jai Raja (Maharashtra), Shreyash Shekhar (Jharkhand), Smith Hirani (Gujarat), P Rohit (Tamil Nadu), Utkarsh Gupta (Jammu & Kashmir), Gaurav Unnikrishnan (Kerala) and Sreeshanth M (Telangana).
