Dhanbad, Nov 13: The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has instructed all medical colleges in the state to conduct thorough verification of caste and residential certificates of newly admitted MBBS students under the state quota from the first, second, and third counselling rounds.
Examination Controller Megha Bhardwaj has directed the directors and principals of all government and private medical colleges to form local-level probe committees for the screening process. The committees must submit their verification reports to the JCECEB after completing the scrutiny of each student’s documents.
Complaints of Fake Certificates Prompt Action
In an official letter issued on Wednesday evening, Megha Bhardwaj stated that the Board had received complaints regarding admissions made on the basis of fake caste and residential certificates during the NEET (UG) 2025–26 session.

Some students allegedly secured MBBS, BDS, and BHMS seats under the state quota using fraudulent documents submitted during online counselling.
Since the interview and verification process was conducted online, the Board could not physically inspect the original certificates. “Hence, it is necessary to check the original certificates of all admitted students through the probe committee to ensure that no ineligible candidate has been admitted,” the Controller directed.
ACS Orders Verification of Reserved Quota Admissions
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Ajay Kumar Singh has separately instructed that admissions under reserved categories — including OBC, ST, SC, and disability quotas — in the third counselling round be verified by the concerned district administrations.
According to a principal of a state medical college, during a video conference held on November 10, the ACS verbally directed principals of all five medical colleges to send the caste and residential certificates of students admitted under reserved state quota seats to their respective deputy commissioners.

Deputy Commissioners to Lead Verification Process
The deputy commissioners have been tasked with verifying the authenticity of the caste and residential certificates at the district level.
Principals of two medical colleges confirmed that, following the ACS’s verbal directive, they have already forwarded the documents of students admitted under OBC, ST, SC, and disability quotas to the concerned deputy commissioners for scrutiny.
The move marks a coordinated effort by the state health department and the JCECEB to prevent fraudulent admissions and ensure transparency in the state quota counselling process.
