Dhanbad, Jan 29: Anupam Kumar of the chemical engineering department and Meena Kumari of the mechanical engineering department became the fastest  2024  boy and girl respectively of BIT Sindri by winning the prestigious 100-metre race.

On the last day of the three-day annual athletics meet organized by the Sports Club of engineering students, Anupam bagged gold in the 100-metre race of boys while Deepak and Vikash won silver and bronze respectively.

In the girls’ 100m race, Meena clinched gold while Alisha and Nirupa bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.

Had there been the best athlete award it would have gone to Anupam who won five gold medals in the competition. Besides the 100-metre race, he also won 200 m race, 100×4 relay, Mixed Relay and 4×400 relay.

On the basis of Anupam’s performance, the team of chemical engineering was declared the overall champion while the mechanical engineering squad got the award of best branch of the year.

200 m– Anupam, Jeetu, Akankshit, 500 m– Prasant, Kuldeep, 100×4 relay– Anupam, Akankshit, Rahul, Shivam and Silver to team of Tej, Deepak, Sagar, Vikash. High jump–  Sanish, Ankit, Samit, Javelin Throw– Deepak, Shivam, Sachin, 4×400 relay– Shivam, Akankshit, Kuldeep, Anupam, silver to Mahdev, Shanish Gagandeep, Ravi,  1500 m– Prasant, Aman, Shankar, Mixed Relay -Anupam, Akankshit, Chayna

High jump- Khusboo, Simran, Komal, Shortput- Nidhi, Kritika, Harshika, Discuss– Phoolmala, Puja, Meena, 200m – Parwati, Moyana, Grecy, 400m – Nirupa, Chayna, Binita, 4×100 relay– Kritika, Komal, Priya, Manisha, silver to Nirupa, Chayna, Harshika, Anjali.

Special events like musical chair, tug of war were also organized for faculty members of the institution in which they actively participated to show sportsman spirit.

BIT Sindri Sports Club president Rahul Kumar, Shivajee, Tanu Priya, Ashish Kumar, Upasna, Navneet, Vivek,  Utkarsh, Akashdeep, Adarsh, Suman, Tej Prakash, Manisha, Akanksha, Rahul, Abhishek, Prince, Priya, Satish, Puja, Priyanshu, Sachin, Adarsh Singh and other office bearers played sheet anchor role in making this annual sports success.
