Ranchi, Nov 10: Manisha Rani Tirki of Ranchi maintaining her supremacy in the state badminton wore the triple crown in ‘Yonex Sunrise’ Jharkhand Senior Badminton Championship which concluded at Thakur Vishwanath Shahdeo Indoor Stadium, Khel Gaon Ranchi.
Niraj Keshri emerged again as the men’s singles champion. Vinay Kumar of Saraikela got the honour of wearing a double crown in the men’s event in the championship.
Manisha won the Singles, doubles, and mixed doubles titles in the championship while Vinay Kumar won the men’s singles and mixed doubles title pairing with Manisha Rani Tirki of Ranchi.
In the men’s singles final Niraj Keshri of Ranchi defeated Priyanshu Tirki of Gumla 21-16, 14-21 and 21-17 in an exciting encounter.
In the women’s singles final Manisha beat Saarah Sharma of Jamshedpur 21-18, 21-17. Earlier pairing with Ananya Singh of Ranchi, Manisha beat Saarah Sharma and Sonali Dubey of Deoghar 15-05, 15-04 to bag the doubles title. Manisha bagged her third title in the championship in mixed doubles. Pairing with Vinay Kumar she beat Priyanshu Tirkey – Kajal Kumari (Lohardagga) 21-08, 21-14.
In the men’s doubles final the pair of Vinay Kumar- Emmanel Kujur (West Singhbhum) beat the pair of Safi Akram (Ranchi) and Chandrajit Jha (West Singhbhum) 21-17, 21-16.
In the closing ceremony, Anoop Birtharay (DIG STF Jharkhand) was the chief guest and presented trophies to the players. Sunil Kumar (IAS), Mission Director and Director of the secondary education department was the guest of honour.
Jharkhand team for the Senior National Badminton Championship scheduled to be held in Guwahati from December 18th would be selected on the basis of performance in this championship.
Officials of the Jharkhand Badminton Association and the Ranchi District Association were also present.
