Ranchi, January 19: The Abua Dishom Budget 2026–27, to be presented during the Silver Jubilee year of Jharkhand’s formation, will be dedicated to “Respect for Women and Empowerment of Women”, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore said during a pre-budget consultation meeting with state bankers on Monday.

The meeting was held at the FFP Building and attended by senior officials of the Finance Department, Rural Development Department, and representatives of public and private sector banks.

Bankers’ role crucial in inclusive growth

Addressing the meeting, the finance minister said that state bankers act as the third pillar of government resources and play a crucial role in the economic upliftment of weaker sections. He said the suggestions received from bankers would be incorporated into the Abua Dishom Budget 2026–27, making it more practical and people-centric.

So far, over 1,550 suggestions have been received through the Abua Dishom Budget App, reflecting active public participation in the budget-making process.

Women’s empowerment government’s top priority

Radhakrishna Kishore said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the state government has made women’s social and economic empowerment a core priority. He highlighted the impact of the Maiyan Samman (Respect for Women) Yojana, stating that it has played a significant role in strengthening women economically.

“Respect for women and their empowerment is the government’s guiding principle,” the finance minister said, adding that banks can further support women by improving access to credit, financial inclusion, and self-employment opportunities.

Banks to adopt villages for women’s upliftment

The finance minister appealed to banks to actively participate in village development, especially for empowering women. An agreement was reached during the meeting that banks will adopt at least 100 villages across the state in the current financial year and work systematically for women’s upliftment.

He assured bankers that the state government would extend all possible support to ensure the success of this initiative.

Budget to set example for other states

Emphasising the significance of the upcoming budget, Radhakrishna Kishore said the Abua Dishom Budget 2026–27 would be distinct, strong, and largely driven by the state’s own resources. He expressed confidence that the budget would serve as a model for other states.

Senior officials, bankers attend meeting

The meeting was attended by State Finance Commission Chairman Amarendra Pratap Singh, Secretary (Expenditure) Abu Imran, Secretary (Commerce) Amit Kumar, finance expert Harishwar Dayal, Special Secretary Finance Sandeep Singh, and representatives of banks, including State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, and Bank of India.
