SUBHASH MISHRA

Dhanbad, Sept 30: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today announced plans to establish Labour Residential Schools in all 24 districts of Jharkhand, aimed at providing free education to the children of labourers.

This initiative was revealed during the ‘Jharkhand Skill Conclave’ held at the Baliapur airstrip, approximately 20 km from the district headquarters, on Monday afternoon.

Training programs for job creation

In his address, Soren emphasised that the training programs initiated by the Labour Department have empowered Jharkhand’s youth with skills that make them eligible for jobs in multinational companies.

He further stressed the government’s commitment to creating employment opportunities for the state’s youth through various partnerships with companies.

Highlighting his government’s efforts, Chief Minister Soren expressed his dedication to ensuring that Jharkhand’s skilled youth secure jobs. He mentioned ongoing agreements with multiple companies to facilitate job placements for qualified candidates.

Distribution of appointment letters

Soren also distributed appointment letters to skilled youths during the Skill Conclave, marking a significant step toward employment generation in the state.

Warning against political opportunism

In a brief yet pointed remark, the Chief Minister took a dig at the opposition BJP leaders, cautioning the people of Jharkhand against politicians who only appear around election time, often using helicopters for their campaigns.

He urged voters to remain cautious of such a leader and to remember him when the elections arrive, indicating the upcoming assembly polls.

“Only keep me in mind at that time,” Soren said, signalling the need for continued support from the public.

The event was also attended by Labour Minister Satyanand Bhokta, Minority Welfare Minister Irfan Ansari, Jharia MLA Purnima Singh, and Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto.

The Chief Minister also launched and laid the foundation for several development initiatives. These included 83 projects worth over ₹44 crores by the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation, ₹52.73 crores worth of projects by the Rural Works Department, and 10 projects by the Water Sanitation Department totalling ₹3.85 crores.

Other major initiatives included 8 projects by the Jharkhand Education Project worth ₹9.93 crores, as well as road construction projects valued at ₹5.50 crores.
