Ranchi, June 17: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday met the family of martyred constable Sunil Dhan of the Jharkhand Jaguar unit at his official residence in Ranchi and handed over a financial compensation of ₹2.66 crore as a mark of respect for his sacrifice.
The martyred constable’s family was provided ₹1.20 crore under the Police Salary Package Scheme of the State Bank of India, through a cheque handed over personally by the Chief Minister. An additional amount of ₹1.46 crore was directly credited to the family’s account by the state’s Home Department.

During the meeting, CM Soren interacted compassionately with the bereaved family, inquired about their situation, and assured them of continued government support.

“Constable Sunil Dhan laid down his life in service of the people. The state bows to his supreme sacrifice,” said the Chief Minister, adding, “Our government deeply understands the pain of a martyr’s family and will stand by them in every way possible.”
CM Urges Widow to Consider Compassionate Job Offer
Among those who met the CM were Sunil Dhan’s 65-year-old mother Fagni Urain, 29-year-old wife Gandhari Dhan, and two sons Priyansh (5) and Aniket (3). The Chief Minister encouraged the martyr’s wife to consider a government job under the state’s compassionate appointment policy. However, she expressed that her children are still very young and that she would consider the offer in the future.
CM Soren also emphasized the importance of educating the children and assured the family that the government will continue to provide all support. “Stay strong and move forward with courage. The government stands by you,” he added.
CM Orders Timely Disbursement of All Benefits
The martyr’s mother shared that their ancestral home is in Kanti Pohra Toli of Karra block in Khunti district, where they rely on agriculture for sustenance.
The Chief Minister directed officials present to ensure the family receives all entitlements, including pensions and other compensatory benefits, at the earliest. Officials informed the CM that the pension process has been completed, and disbursement will begin from next month.

Martyred During Anti-Naxal Operation
Constable Sunil Dhan was critically injured during an anti-Naxal operation in the dense forests of Ratamati village under the Chotanagara police station in West Singhbhum on April 12, 2025. He was part of the AG-11 unit of the Jharkhand Jaguar and suffered fatal injuries in an IED blast. He was airlifted to Ranchi for treatment but succumbed to his injuries the same day.

Among those present at the event were Home Department Principal Secretary Vandana Dadel, Jharkhand Jaguar DIG Indrajit Mahtha, Senior DSP Sunil Kumar Rajwar, SBI Deputy General Manager (Ranchi Circle) Manoj Kumar, and Chief Manager Vikas Kumar Pandey.
