Jharkhand CM honours freedom fighters’ kin on Republic Day in Dumka

Ranchi, Jan 26: Chief Minister Hemant Soren hoisted the tricolour and saluted it at a ceremony held at Police Line, Dumka, on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day.

The Chief Minister inspected the parade and addressed the people of the state during the event. Several dignitaries, including MLA Basant Soren, MLA Alok Kumar Soren, MLA Dr. Louis Marandi, former minister Badal Patralekh, Commissioner of Santhal Pargana Lalchand Dadel, IG Kranti Kumar, DIG Amber Lakra, Deputy Commissioner Anjaneyulu Dodde, Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar, along with senior officials and other prominent personalities, were present.

To honour the sacrifices of the brave martyrs, Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid tribute by placing a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial located at the Police Line Ground in Dumka.

As part of the Republic Day celebrations, the Chief Minister also honoured Parvatiya Devi, the dependent wife of the late Patru Rai from Parsadaha village, Saraiyahat block, Dumka district.

During the ceremony, awards were distributed to participants of the Republic Day parade. The first prize went to NCC +2 (Girls) Dumka, the second prize to IRB-01 Jamtara Women’s Platoon, and the third prize to Home Defence Corps, Dumka. Additionally, First in Command Probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police Dr. Mohammad Syed Mustafa Hashmi, Second in Command Probationary Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Police Akash Bhardwaj, St Teresa High School Dumka (National Anthem), and Hazaribagh Police Academy (Band) were honoured by the Chief Minister.

The following departments were awarded for their tableaux presentations:

  • First Prize: Women and Child Development and Social Security Department
  • Second Prize: Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department and District Rural Development Branch, Dumka
  • Third Prize: Police Department, Dumka

Certificates of Excellence

The Chief Minister also presented certificates of excellence to workers from various departments for their outstanding contributions. The recipients included:

  • Megha Besra
  • Pawan Kumar Mishra
  • Basukinath Chaturvedi
