Ranchi, Nov. 8: Chief Minister Hemant Soren today granted sanction for the prosecution of Arjun Ram, the then Block Development Officer, Balumath in |Latehar.

A case under Section 406/409/419/420/34 of the Indian Penal Code 1880 had been filed against Ram way back in 2016 at the Balumath police station under Latehar district.

Ram has been accused of committing financial irregularities in the construction of houses for the poor under the Indira Awas Yojana. In the course of the investigation, it has come to light that the order for the supply of toilet material, smokeless stove, and Yojana board under Indira Awas Yojana was given by him to M/s A.K. Traders, Ranchi without any tender/quotation. A payment of Rs 41,69,880 was made against the said supply, which is a gross violation of the government provision. “Thus, Arjun Ram, the then Block Development Officer, Balumath, is accused of misuse of government position, criminal conspiracy, fraud, and embezzlement of government funds by committing financial irregularities as part of a well-planned conspiracy in violation of procedures,” the investigation said.
