Ranchi, April 5: As Ram Navami approaches, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has issued clear directives to ensure peaceful celebrations across Jharkhand. Chairing a high-level law and order review at his residence on Kanke Road, Soren emphasised the need for harmony and swift action against any attempt to disturb peace during the festival.

Top state officials, including Chief Secretary Alka Tiwary, Additional Chief Secretary to CM Avinash Kumar, Home Secretary Vandana Dadel, DGP Anurag Gupta, and senior police officers, attended the meeting, with district-level authorities joining via video conference.
Crackdown on Rumour-Mongers and Anti-Social Elements
The Chief Minister instructed officials to take strict action against individuals or groups spreading rumours or creating unrest. He urged authorities to work closely with peace committees and to use public communication to spread positive, reassuring messages. The goal, he said, is to foster mutual respect, love, and brotherhood among communities during the festival.

DJs Regulated as Per Court Order
Soren directed that all Akhara committees – whether licensed or not – be provided with copies of the High Court’s order concerning the use of DJs. He stressed that committees must be made aware of the legal consequences of violating these guidelines to ensure compliance and avoid disturbances.
Bike Rallies Banned to Prevent Public Risk
In a significant move, the Chief Minister ordered a complete ban on bike rallies during Ram Navami processions, calling it a recent trend that poses risks to both the public and event organisers.
“Ensuring public safety is the government’s top priority,” Soren said. “Bike rallies have been a source of concern and must be strictly prohibited this year.”

Surveillance to Be Stepped Up
The administration has been told to intensify monitoring at sensitive locations identified as high-risk. The use of CCTV cameras and drones will be stepped up to ensure real-time tracking of processions. Physical verification and close coordination with peace committees will also form a key part of the monitoring strategy.
Officials were also advised to ensure that no provocative or objectionable music is played during processions and that necessary steps, including switching off the music system, be taken if tensions rise.
Respect Traditions, Avoid Provocation
Soren also underlined the importance of upholding traditional practices during Ram Navami. He instructed officials to stay informed about long-established routes and rituals of the processions and ensure that these are carried out without disruption. However, he was clear that any new form of event or march that threatens law and order should be immediately stopped.
Keep a Close Watch, Act Swiftly
Lastly, Soren stressed the need for complete vigilance against anti-social and extremist elements. Any sign of deteriorating law and order must be reported without delay to the control room and police headquarters.
“The responsibility of maintaining peace and harmony lies with all of us,” he said. “Let’s ensure Ram Navami is celebrated with joy, tradition, and unity.”
