Jharkhand: Dhanbad 3rd busiest railway station, Patna on top in ECR zone

Dhanbad, Feb 9: The Dhanbad railway station has become the 3rd busiest under the East Central Railway (ECR) Zone.

A senior officer of the Dhanbad Rail Division said that in the latest record released by East Central Railway, among the top 30 railway stations in the zone, Dhanbad has jumped to 3rd position regarding the number of passengers arriving and going every day.

Patna railway station is still the busiest under ECR zone for serving passengers, followed by Gaya station.

Dhanbad registers footprint of 1,27,90,725 passengers

The senior officer said between April 2023 and December, Dhanbad station registered a total footprint of 1,27,90,725 passengers in nine months. 70 lakh, 98 thousand, 815 passengers arrived while 56 lakh 51 thousand 910 boarded here.

Besides Dhanbad, Koderma and Parasnath railway stations have also figured among the top 30 busiest stations of the ECR Zone. Koderma is in 16th position while Parasnath is in 28th.

Koderma railway station 

According to the senior officer, Koderma railway station registered total footprint of 34 lakh 48 thousand 579 passengers during the period, while Parasnath registered 9 lakh 78 thousand 056 passengers.

A total of 18 lakh 27 thousand 616 passengers arrived at Koderma station, and 16 lakh 20 thousand 967 boarded there. Similarly, 5 lakh 6 thousand 282 passengers arrived at Parasnath station while 4 lakh 71 thousand774 passengers boarded here.

Dhanbad is in 6th position in passenger revenue earning

The senior officer said Dhanbad got the 6th position among 30 leading railway stations under the ECR Zone in terms of passenger revenue earning. Dhanbad railway station earned revenue of Rs 155,87,67,552 from passengers. Last year, Dhanbad station was in 8th position in earning revenue from passenger tickets.

Patna is top revenue earner 

In ECR, Patna is still on top, followed by Muzaffarpur, Danapur, Pt Deendayal Upadhyay and Gaya in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position, respectively. Among the top 30 railway stations of ECR, Koderma and Parasnath Railway stations of Dhanbad Rail Division also figured.
