Jharkhand: RPF rescues minor girl with lover at Daltonganj

Daltonganj, February 9: RPF Garhwa Road railway junction post rescued a minor girl, 14 and a boy, 19, eloping together for Delhi by the 12873 Up Ranchi -Delhi Swarnjayanti express train on Thursday night at the Daltonganj railway station.

The inspector in charge of the RPF Garhwa Road railway junction post, Banarasi Yadav, said the duo had boarded this train at Barkakana railway junction.

The minor girl and the major boy belonged to Khelari town under Ranchi district.

Yadav said the two had no ticket but were travelling in coach S1. RPF personnel Veer Pratap Singh and associates attended coach S 1 and rescued them.

The inspector in-charge RPF further said the rescued two were not a case of any human trafficking but a case of elopement.

As the boy was a major, he was allowed to go to his family while the girl, a minor, had been put up in the Balika Grih in Daltonganj, added Yadav.

A message from both the families for rescuing them had come on the Lapata Help Desk of the RPF.

The two rescued tried to impress the RPF that they had married in a Barkakana temple, which was a white lie.

This is the second rescue under the operation of Nanhey Farishtey in 2024 by the RPF Garhwa Road railway junction post.

Last year, this RPF post rescued 30 children under the Nanhey Farishtey operation.

Under Operation Dignity, five women were saved last year.

This RPF rescued and saved three lives in 2023 under Jeevan Rakshha.

Luggage, baggage and other items lost or missing during the journey by the passengers numbering 30 episodes were retrieved by this RPF under Operation Amanat.

18 cases were lodged for the clandestine sale of railway reservation tickets worth Rs 12 lakh for various trains, which were forfeited by the RPF team here in 2023 -24, added Yadav.
