Dhanbad, February 13: The Dhanbad MP-MLA court on Tuesday absolved BJP Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto from a five-year-old rape attempt charge.
While hearing the case today, Special Judge Akhilesh Kumar said that since the prosecution could not produce evidence of the incident, the accused, Dhulu Mahto, has been acquitted of charges.
Additional Public Prosecutor Samit Prakash told media that the victim woman turned hostile in the case. On January 27, 2024, her husband said in court that he knew nothing about what happened with his wife.

The BJP woman leader had five years ago levelled sexual abuse charges against Dhulu Mahto.
As per the complaint, the victim woman had alleged that Dhulu Mahto called her to the Hindustan Zinc Tundu guest house and attempted rape.
On the directive of the High Court, the FIR was lodged against MLA Dhulu Mahto on October 4, 2019. Her statement under IPC Section 164 was recorded on February 15, 2020.
Defence Lawyer Radheshyam Goswamy said the allegation against the three-term MLA was false. Today, Dhulu Mahto was not present in the court.
