Jharkhand: Dr Arun Barnbal becomes SNMMCH superintendent again for 48 hours

Dhanbad, Jan 29: Dr Arun Kumar Barnbal, associate professor of surgery of  Phulo Jhano  Medical College Hospital (PJMCH)  Dumka has been appointed superintendent of  Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad again.

In this regard, under secretary of the Jharkhand government Vishwanath Sinha has issued a notification regarding the appointment of Dr Barnbal as superintendent of  SNMMCH.  The present superintendent Dr Anil Kumar has been sent to the surgery department of SNMMCH.

Dr Barnbal is scheduled to retire from service on January 31. Official sources in SNMMCH said he would take charge as the SNMMCH superintendent tomorrow (January 30) and retire the next day on January 31.

PJMCH Dumka relieves Dr Barnbal

After getting the notification, PJMCH Dumka immediately relieved Dr Barnbal from the institution.  PJMCH principal Dr Arun Kumar Choudhary when contacted admitted that as per the directive of the state government he took necessary action (relieving Dr Barnbal) and duly informed the state headquarters about it.

Jharkhand HC order

The state government has appointed Dr Barnbal  SNMMCH  Dhanbad superintendent in the wake of a High Court order that had cancelled the July 31st, 2023 notice in which Dr Barnbal  (the then superintendent of SNMMCH Dhanbad) as associate professor surgery department in PJMCH Dumka.

Dr Barnbal had challenged the notification in the High Court after his transfer to Dumka Medical College. The High Court cancelled the notification of his transfer to PJMCH Dumka.

A senior teacher of SNMMCH Dhanbad said that though Dr Barnbal will stay on the post of superintendent merely for 48  hours, he has got the respect of retiring from the superintendent post.
