Ranchi, Jan 16: Dr SC Dubey, Assistant Director General (Plant Protection and Biosafety), ICAR on Tuesday took over as the Vice Chancellor of Birsa Agricultural University (BAU). His term will be for three years.
After his joining in university headquarters, Dr Dubey offered floral tributes to the statues of Birsa Bhagwan and Kartik Oraon on the campus and addressed the senior officers in the BAU Board Room.
Dr Dubey directs filling vacant positions
He directed all the Deans, Directors to submit details of vacant positions of officers, teachers, scientists and all categories of non-teaching staff to the Director Administration within a week so that all the posts could be advertised by Jharkhand Public Service Commission and Jharkhand State Staff Selection Commission within a month.
The VC directed the concerned officials to convene a meeting of the BAU Academic Council and Board of Management within 20 days. The registrar was advised to write letters to concerned departments for the nomination of members against vacant positions of the BAU Board of Management.

Dr Dubey stressed that all officers including Deans, Directors should understand their responsibilities, exercise their powers and give clear specific notings so that concerned files could be disposed off as early as possible. File movement process will also be reviewed to ensure early action, he added.
Kisan Mela from Feb 24-26
It was resolved to organise Agrotech Kisan Mela from February 24 to 26 and Director of Extension Education was directed to complete the necessary formalities soon.
He said all expenses should be made strictly following the rules with due economy. File notings should be given in accordance with the provisions of the University Act, Statutes, service code and government provisions.
Who is Dr SC Dubey?
Dr Dubey had earlier served BAU as Asst Prof and Associate Prof from 1989 to 2001. Later joined ICAR and worked as Senior Scientist, Principal Scientist, HoD, Director and ADG.
He is specialised in fungal plant pathology in areas of diversity analysis, race profiling, diagnostics, epidemiology and management of plant diseases using host resistance and bio-agents with special reference to diseases of pulse crops.
Diversity, diagnostics, host-pathogen interaction and management of fungal plant pathogens have been his major areas of research. He has to his credit over 200 research papers published in national and international journals.
Currently he is Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi, National Academy of Biological Sciences (NABS), Tamil Nadu; Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Udaipur and the Indian Phytopathological Society, New Delhi.
