Dhanbad, April 20: Regional political outfit Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC) is on fire over a picture of its general secretary, former MLA Arup Chatterjee, on a poster of Congress Dhanbad candidate Anupama Singh.

The MCC has already fielded Jagdish Rawani from the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat.

Picture without consent: Arup
General Secretary Arup Chatterjee said that the Congress had put his picture on a poster without his consent. After getting information from the media, he duly wrote a letter to the Congress Party in protest.
Notably, a poster of Congress Dhanbad candidate Anupama Singh appeared in the district on April 17, in which photos of I.N.D.I.A leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Shibu Soren, Hemant Soren, Chief Minister Champai Soren, Tejashwi Yadav, CPIML leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, Arup Chatterjee, Congress Jharkhand in-charge Gulam Ahmed Mir, Rajesh Thakur, former minister late Rajendra Prasad Singh, Jayamangal Singh alias Anup Singh ( husband of Anupama Singh) also figured.

MCC has fielded Jagdish Rawani
Since the MCC has already given its candidate for the Dhanbad seat, three times former Nirsa MLA Arup Chatterjee quickly responded in protest.

Arup Chatterjee said he doesn’t know how the Congress candidate put up his photo on a poster without his permission. “Of course, I am part of I.N. D.I . A and support its candidate on 13 seats out of 14 in Jharkhand, barring Dhanbad,” said Chatterjee.
The MCC general secretary said his party had announced the name of the candidate ( Jagdish Rawani) one month ago, and how this confusion prevailed is a million-dollar question.

Dhanbad is considered a strong belt of MCC. Its founder and Marxist thinker AK Roy won this Lok Sabha three times ( 1977, 1980, and 1989). Since 1977, MCC has continuously fielded its candidate for the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat: first AK Roy and then Anand Mahto.
Nirsa and Sindri assembly constituencies of Dhanbad are considered a stronghold of the MCC where its candidate ( Late Gurudas Chatterjee and now Arup Chatterjee ( in Nirsa) and Anand Mahto ( in Sindri) dominate the scene.
