Dhanbad, April 29: With the notification for the Lok Sabha elections in Dhanbad issued today, a total of 18 people purchased nomination papers on the first day.
District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner (DC), while issuing the notification today, said that the last date for filing nomination is May 6, and candidates can submit the nomination papers between morning 11 am to afternoon 3 pm daily.
The nomination papers will be scrutinized on May 7, while the last date for withdrawal is May 9.
Election in Dhanbad on May 25
“Election in Dhanbad constituency will be held on May 25, and voting will be conducted between morning 7 am to evening 5 pm,” said DC Madhvi Mishra.

22,78,221 voters in Dhanbad
The electoral officer said the total number of voters in the Dhanbad parliamentary constituency (comprising Dhanbad, Bokaro, Chandankyari, Sindri, Jharia, and Nirsa areas) is 22,18,221. Male voters are 11 lakh, 92,000, and 976, while female voters are 10 lakh,85,000, and 185. Third-gender voters are 80.
A total of 2539 booths have been set up in the parliamentary constituency, 1177 of which are in urban areas and 1362 in rural areas.
“ Names of 82628 new voters have been included in the list between October 27, 2023, to April 27 2024, while names of 40949 voters have been deleted,” said Madhvi Mishra.
19 all-women booths in Dhanbad
The deputy commissioner further added that in this election, women would be conducting 19 booths in the constituency.
53677 new voters in Dhanbad
The DC said first-time voters of 18-19 years of age are 53677, of which males are 29483.
27 arms licences cancelled
Senior Superintendent of Police HP Janardhan, on the occasion, said that 906 license holders out of 1241 handed over their arms, 27 licenses were cancelled, and 252 persons were exempted from submitting arms.
In addition to DC, SSP, Town Commissioner Raviraj Sharma, Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Sadat Anwar, DRDA director Rajiv Ranjan, and other senior officials were present.
