Daltonganj, April 25: Palamu district education officer Durganand Jha has directed the area education officers, block education extension officers, block programme managers, officials of the BRP and CRP and headmasters etc to arrange cooked meals for the polling parties and accompanying security forces at the polling booths which are predominantly located in the government schools.
Jha said, “Mid-day meal making teams at our government schools will cook food for the polling parties and accompanying security forces etc.”
Food will be dinner, breakfast and lunch. Polling parties and accompanying security forces are to arrive at the polling booths a night ahead of the voting day. Hence it is dinner, breakfast and lunch.
Jha said, “Members of the polling parties and accompanying security forces etc will pay just 60 rupees per member/ per personnel for dinner, breakfast and lunch. It’s a very nominal payment.”
Jha further said our mid-day making team will prepare fresh and clean food which is of great health value in this summer time.

The district education officer further said “I have asked the school management committee to use rice and pulses meant for the mid day meal in preparing food for the polling parties and accompanying security forces. I assure there will be no shortage of mid day meal for our students. We are here for them.”
1400 government schools are the locale of the polling stations in Palamu. There are in all 2564 government schools including primary, middle,high school, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya, Jharkhand Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya and one Netaji Vidyalaya for the orphaned children.
Jha said “I have asked the school officials to set things right like drinking water, water in toilets of girls and boys, light, fans, mobile charging units by this April 30.”
He agreed there are some government schools where there is no internal wiring and providing electricity supply at such a short notice is a challenge.
Jha said he has asked the headmasters to explore what best can be done for the comfort and convenience of the polling parties and accompanying security forces.
“April 30 is the day of proving that all minor deficiencies in the schools where polling stations are set up, have been overcome.” added the district education officer.
Jha assured that money spent on the correctional measures like that of water, electricity fans bulbs etc will be adjusted with funds that will reach these schools now.
