In his directive to medical colleges, institutions, and deemed universities, the director clarified that submission of video recordings of examinations is necessary as permission for the NMC grant renewal will be decided only based on it.

“Failure to submit the examination recording shall invite appropriate action,” said Shambhu Sharan Kumar.

Senior most examiner

As per the UGMEB directive, a senior examiner of the college would be considered Chairman- cum -Assessor of the examination.

A senior professor of the state medical college said that video recording of examinations had been directed to ensure transparency in examinations and check the ‘Disparity of judgement’ allegedly being done at the local level.

“For uniformity in examination across the country, now NMC will set question papers at its level for all medical colleges, which will help in regularising the session,” said the professor, requesting not to be quoted.

At present, each medical college in the country sets question papers by teachers of its choice. Each faculty suggests five teachers’ names for setting question papers in which the examination in charge of the institution selects one.

When contacted on Saturday morning, Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad Principal Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad said that he had not studied the notice of NMC UGMEB. “Directive for video recording of examination comes time to time. Two years ago, a similar video recording of the examination was done on the directive of NMC,” said Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad.
