Dhanbad, February 10: On Saturday, a two-day international conference on sustainable development and management practices started at IIT ISM, Dhanbad.

Padma Shri awardee, Prof. Anil Gupta, chief executive officer of Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN), Dr Anamika Dey, Prof Rupesh from IIM-K, Prof SSS Kumar from IIM-K, Prof. Piyal Sarkar from Penn State University, Prof Baidyanath Biswas from Trinity Business School (Ireland) and Dr Satish Sinha – Ass. Vice President (Sustainability), Adani Enterprises – Natural Resources, Ahmedabad, delivered the inaugural address.
While addressing the issue, Prof Anil Gupta shed light on the importance of the circular economy for sustainable development and the need for research scholars and researchers to answer research questions.

Adaptability of innovation
IIT ISM officiating director Prof J K Pattanayak stressed the adaptability of innovation at the global level. He said appropriate measures may be introduced by applying management practices for alternative livelihood and sustainable development.
Earlier, Prof Govind Swaroop Pathak, convenor of the conference, welcomed the guests and delegates.
In his address, Prof. Bibhas Chandra, head of the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, provided details of the department’s journey and shared the need for research and development in sustainability.
