Jamshedpur, Feb 17: Four mutilated bodies were found on the railway track between Talaburu and Kendposhi stations near Chaibasa under the Chakradharpur railway division early on Saturday morning.

The deceased seemed to be from a single family but the cause of death is yet to be ascertained whether it was a case of multiple suicides or accidental or a barbaric act of mass murder.

Infant, toddler among deceased

Two of the deceased were children- a one-year-old baby boy, a two-and-half-year-old baby girl, a 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man.

Though the children’s bodies were found lying together, the bodies of the woman and the man were found between a stretch of two km away respectively.

After the bodies were noticed by a train driver at the small hours today, train movement abruptly stopped on the route, causing disruption in the train services.

Bodies sent for postmortem

Having got to know about the bodies lying on the railway track, both the local police as well as the railway police reached the spot immediately and removed them from the track in the morning.

The railway police have shifted the bodies to the Chakradharpur sub-divisional hospital for postmortem having inspected the place of occurrence.

Train services resumed after disruption

Senior divisional commercial manager (DCM), Chakradharpur, Gajraj Singh said the train services resumed after the bodies were removed from the track.

“Train movement on the third line was affected due to the four bodies lying on the track. But now the train movement through the line has been resumed,” said Singh while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

The senior DCM said the incident occurred at about 2.30 am today, adding that the railway police as well as the local police are trying to detect the sensational case.
