Jamshedpur, Jan 8: Gangster Akhilesh Singh’s close associate and shooter Harish Singh had used a fake identity while staying at a hotel in Rajgir from where the Jamshedpur police had arrested him on January 3.
Senior SP, Kishore Kaushal revealed this at a press conference after the arrested criminal was brought here on a transit remand from Bihar on Sunday.
Mobile surveillance led to arrest
Revealing about the breakthrough, Kishore Kaushal said that Harish was staying at the Rajgir hotel in the name of Ajay Kumar and had tried to dodge the police team by showing a forged Aadhaar card bearing the name “Ajay Kumar.”

“But as the police team led by City SP, Mukesh Lunayat had zeroed in about the whereabouts of the fugitive on the basis of the mobile surveillance, he was apprehended. Later, on being interrogated, the criminal gave in and confessed to being Harish Singh only, ” said the senior SP while talking to the media.
Wanted in 30 cases
A resident of East Plant Bustee in Burmamines, Harish Singh was wanted in as many as 30 cases registered with the police stations in and around the steel city. Remaining out of reach of the police, the criminal had been active in extorting money from the businessmen by making calls on behalf of the gangster Akhilesh Singh presently lodged in the Dumka central jail.
As Harish Singh continued to indulge in criminal activities like launching armed attacks and making extortion calls besides committing murders, the DGP, Jharkhand had in the year 2020 declared a bounty of Rs 40,000 on his head.
