Dhanbad, September 20: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Sunday appreciated the efforts of Ekal Abhiyan to expand education, values, health awareness and social development initiatives in rural and tribal areas, saying access to education and awareness for every section of society was a collective responsibility.
The Governor was addressing the Ekal Abhiyan Acharya and Vyas Samman Samaroh, organised by the Mahila Samiti, Vanbandhu Parishad, Dhanbad Chapter, at the Penman Hall of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Gangwar said the journey of Ekal Vidyalaya began in Dhanbad and has since grown into a nationwide campaign. He said the initiative was working to connect people in remote villages with education, social awareness and Indian cultural traditions.
Emphasising that education should go hand in hand with values and cultural awareness, the Governor appreciated initiatives under Ekal Shrihari Sanskar Shiksha, including Harikatha, satsang and various social and cultural programmes.
He congratulated the Acharyas, Vyas narrators and other workers associated with Ekal Abhiyan and expressed hope that the service journey that originated in Dhanbad would continue to take education, values and awareness to more villages across the country.
IIT (ISM) Director stresses social responsibility
IIT (ISM) Dhanbad Director Prof. (Dr.) Sukumar Mishra said education acquires its true meaning when its benefits reach every section of society.
He highlighted the importance of social responsibility, human values and the spirit of service and congratulated the Acharyas and Vyas Samman recipients for their contributions.
Focus on Panchmukhi Shiksha
Dr Lallan Sharma, Kendriya Abhiyan Pramukh, Ekal Abhiyan, spoke about the Panchmukhi Shiksha Yojana and the organisation’s expansion into areas including values, health, self-reliance and social awareness.
He also highlighted efforts to provide people from disadvantaged and rural communities with opportunities to develop their talents as Vyas narrators.
Five areas of social transformation highlighted
RSS Prant Karyawah Sanjay Kumar highlighted five areas of social transformation—self-reliant living, family awareness, social harmony, environmental protection and civic responsibility.
He called for these values to be incorporated into everyday life at the family and village levels.
During the programme, Acharyas and Vyas narrators were felicitated for their contributions to Ekal Abhiyan.
The event was attended by Dr Lallan Sharma, Prof. (Dr.) Sukumar Mishra, Sanjay Kumar, Santosh Bhaiji, Mahendra Agrawala, Prof. (Dr.) Dheeraj Kumar, Harendra Singh and Shambhunath Agrawala, among others.
