Ranchi, Nov. 7: Governor CP Radhakrishnan today said that no University of Jharkhand can be included in the list of excellent universities in the country.
“We have to take it seriously and remove those reasons and discrepancies due to which their excellence is being hindered,” he said.
Inaugurating a two-day workshop organized by Raj Bhavan on the topic “University’s Vision and Strategy Development” at Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, the governor said the daily changes and technical specifications in the field of education will also have to be adopted. “At the same time, while setting goals, we will have to be committed and work with a sense of foresight and dedication,” he added.
He said that now we will have to stand not only on national but also on international standards.
The governor said that it has been decided to shift Ranchi University to a campus of about 100 acres, the structure will be of international standard and students will also be able to compete at the international level.
The governor said that corruption is like cancer. “For development in any educational institution, it is necessary to work with transparency along with a corruption-free environment. “There will be only one criterion in the appointment of Vice Chancellor – qualification. Appointments will be made after completing all the processes. Those who are eligible will be appointed by following all the procedures,” he maintained.
He said that while making cuts at other places, the government provides funds to the universities as per their needs in the interest of the students so that the students can have a better future. “It is the responsibility of the university to use these funds to improve the future of the students,” he pointed out.
The governor asked the educationists participating in the workshop to focus on all the difficulties and make a roadmap for the future so that the universities here can achieve new heights every day and develop in the field of higher education. He said that participation of boys/girls from deprived sections, especially Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste sections, should be ensured in the field of higher education.
He directed them to follow the academic calendar in the interest of students. He talked about establishing technical institutes in backward and remote areas.
