Inaugurating a two-day workshop organized by Raj Bhavan on the topic “University’s Vision and Strategy Development” at Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi, the governor said the daily changes and technical specifications in the field of education will also have to be adopted. “At the same time, while setting goals, we will have to be committed and work with a sense of foresight and dedication,” he added.

He said that now we will have to stand not only on national but also on international standards.

The governor said that it has been decided to shift Ranchi University to a campus of about 100 acres, the structure will be of international standard and students will also be able to compete at the international level.

The governor said that corruption is like cancer. “For development in any educational institution, it is necessary to work with transparency along with a corruption-free environment. “There will be only one criterion in the appointment of Vice Chancellor – qualification. Appointments will be made after completing all the processes. Those who are eligible will be appointed by following all the procedures,” he maintained.

He said that while making cuts at other places, the government provides funds to the universities as per their needs in the interest of the students so that the students can have a better future. “It is the responsibility of the university to use these funds to improve the future of the students,” he pointed out.

He said that participation of boys/girls from deprived sections, especially Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste sections, should be ensured in the field of higher education.

He directed them to follow the academic calendar in the interest of students. He talked about establishing technical institutes in backward and remote areas.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the governor, Dr. Nitin Kulkarni said that the governor is continuously making efforts to bring quality to higher education. “Education is an important means of social and economic empowerment,” he added.

Kulkarni talked about administrative reforms and discipline in the university. “The results of the work done by the Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, and professors should be visible,” he said and asked them to make efforts to connect students with employment along with good education.

On the occasion, Higher and Technical Education Secretary Rahul Purwar said that the department is providing financial assistance to the universities/colleges. He stressed financial discipline and mentioned various guidelines of UGC.
