Jamshedpur, October 24: Jharkhand may experience unsettled weather towards the end of October, with a developing weather system over the Bay of Bengal raising the possibility of heavy rainfall in parts of the state on October 28 and 29.

The potential impact is expected to be closely monitored, particularly across southern and central Jharkhand, as the system evolves and its trajectory becomes clearer.

According to the latest weather outlook, a low-pressure area has formed over the southeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation extending over the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Islands.

The system is expected to persist over the region and is likely to intensify into a depression on October 24. Its subsequent movement and development will play a crucial role in determining the intensity and distribution of rainfall across eastern India, including Jharkhand.

The possibility of increased rainfall on October 28 and 29 has drawn attention to the system’s progress. However, the actual impact on Jharkhand will depend on its future trajectory, intensity and associated atmospheric conditions.

District-Wise Impact Yet to Be Determined

Weather conditions in Jharkhand can change considerably when moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal interact with regional atmospheric systems. Such developments can bring extensive cloud cover, spells of rain and, in some locations, intense downpours over short periods.

Rainfall may vary significantly between districts, depending on the system’s movement and the distribution of moisture. The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) subsequent bulletins are expected to provide greater clarity on the areas likely to receive heavy rainfall, its intensity and the duration of the spell.

While the developing system warrants close monitoring, a widespread cyclone-related impact over Jharkhand should not be considered certain at this stage.

Residents Advised to Follow Official Forecasts

Residents have been advised to follow official weather forecasts and district-level advisories as the IMD updates its predictions.

People should avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain, exercise caution while driving on wet roads and stay away from flooded stretches and swollen water channels. Farmers are also advised to monitor official agricultural advisories before undertaking weather-sensitive activities.

The system’s further development and movement will determine the extent of its impact on Jharkhand in the coming days.
