MANOJ SINHA

Ramgarh, August 28: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar today visited the Panchayat Secretariat in Kuju East, under Mandu block, and distributed assets to beneficiaries under various government schemes.

During his visit, he inquired about the status of education in the area and encouraged villagers to prioritise the education of their children. As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, the Governor planted trees in the Panchayat Bhawan premises.

Welfare schemes and ensuring implementation

While addressing the villagers, Governor Gangwar emphasized the government’s commitment to running welfare schemes aimed at the development of the people. He stated that his efforts are focused on ensuring that everyone benefits from these initiatives, thereby contributing to the state’s progress.

He highlighted the Prime Minister’s ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana,’ which provides free gas connections to mothers and sisters, and noted that around 80 crore people in the country are currently receiving free food grains. He also commended India’s effective handling of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Concerns about education and clean water

The Governor gathered information from the residents about the available educational facilities and motivated them to report any inadequacies in government schools.

He pointed out that contaminated drinking water is a cause of serious diseases. H assured the villagers that the central government is working to provide clean tap water to every household.

Pollution and water supply issues raised

When concerns about pollution in the area were raised, the Governor questioned the Deputy Commissioner of Ramgarh, who explained that efforts are being made to mitigate pollution in this mining region.

A villager mentioned that the water supply in Kuju is inconsistent, with water being supplied only about 10 days a month.

Another resident brought up issues related to the Abua Awas Yojana, stating that some ineligible persons were receiving benefits. The Governor requested that this information be submitted in writing for investigation.

Additionally, villagers expressed the need for a college, as there are no educational facilities available beyond the 10th grade.
