Team assesses SNMMCH for 150 MBBS seats
Two members team of EY consultancy assessed SNMMCH for launching the PG course and increasing 150 MBBS seats from 100.
SNMMCH principal cum superintendent Dr Jyotiranjan Prasad said a team of private agencies visited the institution to explore the possibility of launching a PG course and enhancing the 50 MBBS seats (from 100 to 150).
“The agency team assessed deficiencies in the institution and took a proposal for complying to fulfil the target. We have already applied National Medical Commission (NMC) to launch the PG course. Some queries had been demanded and we duly sent the reply to NMC. So, we are hopeful to get approval,” said the principal Dr Prasad.
The agency team visited all wards of the hospital and different departments. They discussed with the head of each department and its faculty members over the issue.
“After assessing the departments and hospital wards agency team took a list of present doctors and requirements of doctors in 150 MBBS seats. Took detail of building and equipment required for 150 seats as well as launching PG course,” said Dr Ravi Bhushan, nodal officer of the college who deals with NMC matters.
Dr Ravi Bhushan said at present college the hospital has 550 beds. If MBBS seats were increased to 150, the beds of the hospital too would have increased on that basis. The hospital building would have expanded for additional beds.
The nodal officer admitted that at present institution is reeling under an acute shortage of senior faculty members to cater for the NMC guidelines.
