Focus on public policy and climate change research

As part of the proposed collaboration, the Jindal Foundation will undertake academic research in public policy, law and climate change, with a special focus on the challenges faced by eastern India. The initiative aims to connect students from the region with inclusive, high-quality education while generating research relevant to regional and national policy priorities.

Centre of Excellence to boost industrial innovation

A Centre of Excellence will be established in collaboration with leading institutions in the state, including IIT-ISM Dhanbad, BIT Sindri and other academic bodies. The centre will focus on research and innovation in the steel sector, mineral processing and critical minerals, supporting industrial growth and technological advancement in Jharkhand.

Scholarships for marginalised and women students

The scheme will provide financial assistance to meritorious students from marginalised communities, with special emphasis on women students, to pursue higher education in law, public policy and management.

The programme will also include sports-based scholarships, aimed at ensuring that talented athletes from Jharkhand can continue their higher education without financial constraints, regardless of on-field performance alone.

Capacity building for administrative officers

Under the partnership, special training programmes will be organised twice a year for around 30 mid-career officers selected through the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. The programmes will include officers from the administrative and police services and will focus on strengthening governance capabilities and adopting global best practices in public administration and service delivery.

Jindal Foundation’s vision for Jharkhand

The Jindal Foundation stated that with regions such as Ramgarh and Patratu emerging as major steel hubs, Jharkhand will require a skilled and future-ready workforce. The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to the state’s development by improving its Human Development Index through sustained efforts in education, skill development and capacity building.
