Jamshedpur, March 12: In a pivotal hearing on Tuesday, the Jharkhand High Court instructed Satnam Singh Gambhir, the petitioner in the 1984 Sikh riots PIL, to furnish a comprehensive list of victims who are yet to receive compensation.
The court, led by Justice Rangan Mukhopadhyay, emphasized the need for transparency in assessing the impact of the riots.
According to the state government, 550 out of 650 criminal cases related to the Sikh riots have progressed with filed charge sheets. However, documents for 23 cases in Bokaro district remain elusive.

The government assured the court that compensation distribution is nearing completion, but concerns persist regarding the 41 victims recommended by the one-man Commission.
Advocate Diwakar Upadhyay, representing the petitioner, highlighted the gravity of the responsibility placed on Satnam Singh Gambhir by the High Court.
Gambhir expressed his commitment to visiting every district in Jharkhand to compile a list of victim families yet to receive compensation. He asserted his dedication to the cause, vowing to persist until justice is served for every affected family.
