Dhanbad, Jan 17: The Senior Residents of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) in Dhanbad, who have been waiting for their pending salaries for four months, will receive their dues by the last week of this month. This assurance was given by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Health, Ajay Kumar Singh, during his inspection of the hospital’s wards on Thursday.

Ajay Kumar Singh acknowledged that the Senior Residents at SNMMCH have not received their salaries for the past four months and assured them that their payments would be cleared by the end of this month on a priority basis.

SNMMCH Superintendent’s Remarks on Payment

SNMMCH Superintendent, Prof. (Dr.) SK Chourasia, noted that the Senior Residents had personally talked about the issue with the ACS, and he expressed hope that the payment would be processed soon.

The Senior Residents at SNMMCH have not received their salaries for the past four months. In contrast, Senior Residents and tutors at all four other medical colleges—MGMMCH Jamshedpur, PJMCH Dumka, SBMCH Hazaribagh, and MMCH Palamu—have been receiving regular payments.

Interestingly, even the tutors in non-clinical departments at SNMMCH, who fall under the principal’s jurisdiction, have been paid, while payments for the clinical department remain pending.

The salary delays have caused significant frustration, especially as tutors working in non-clinical departments at the same hospital have been paid on time, unlike their clinical counterparts.

IMA Junior Doctors’ Network Threatens Agitation Over Salary Delays

The delay in salary payments has drawn strong criticism from the IMA Junior Doctors Network (JDN). Dr. Sushil Kumar, Chairman of JDN’s state body, along with Dr. Vikash Kumar (President, RIMS Ranchi) and Dr. Raghvendra Kumar (General Secretary, MGMMCH Jamshedpur), expressed concern over the issue. They warned of potential agitation if the pending salaries were not cleared promptly.
