Ranchi, Aug. 27: The Jharkhand High Court today summoned DGP Anurag Gupta, DC Rahul Sinha and SSP Chandan Sinha after Justice SK Dwivedi was stuck in a traffic jam on August 23 near the chief minister’s residence.
Notably, the BJP youth wing had organised a rally at Morhabadi ground, some two km away from the CM’s residence, on August 23.
‘Law and order had completely failed’
Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, the court observed that law and order had completely failed in the State.
Justice SK Dwivedi’s court reprimanded the senior police officers and verbally said that when a sitting judge of the High Court gets stuck in a jam in front of the CM residence and takes several hours to reach the designated place, it can be understood what would be the condition of the common people.
The judge said that while returning from the High Court on August 23, he had to stop in front of the CM’s Kanke Road residence due to the jam.
No response from senior police officers
“During this, his PSO tried several times to contact many top police officials including the Traffic SP on mobile, but there was no response from the other side. During this time, he contacted the Registrar General of the High Court after which he talked to the DGP. He was taken out of the jam after the instructions of the DGP. During this time, he was stuck in the jam for more than half an hour,” the court said.
‘It seems that he was stopped under a conspiracy’
The court verbally said that it seemed that he was stopped under a conspiracy as he was hearing several sensitive cases. The court said that there was no protest on Kanke Road, despite this, more than 300 policemen were deployed there for security.
The court verbally said that such an incident was a failure of law and order. This is a serious matter, the sitting judge of the High Court is not safe. “It seems that the security system is only for politicians and ministers. When a sitting judge of a High Court is not safe, then the judge of other courts is also not safe,” he observed.
The court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and referred it to the acting Chief Justice of the High Court for a detailed hearing.
Earlier, the DGP told the court that such an incident would not happen again. He said that there was some lapse in the security system. The court asked him that when events like dharna and demonstrations take place in Ranchi city, then how are thousands of people allowed to enter the capital?
