Ranchi, August 5: Jharkhand’s towering leader, Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, was cremated with full state honors as his mortal remains merged with the elements. His son, Basant Soren, performed the last rites. Emotions ran high as tearful eyes bid a final farewell to the iconic leader.

After being kept at the Jharkhand Assembly for public homage on Tuesday, Shibu Soren’s body was taken to his native village, Nemra. Thousands lined the roads from Ranchi to Nemra, waiting for one last glimpse of their beloved leader. Villagers stood for hours on either side of the route to pay their respects.

At Nemra, grief overwhelmed the gathering as people struggled to accept that Guruji was no more. The silence in the village spoke volumes—every home, every wall, and every tree seemed to mourn his loss.

Sea of Mourners for Final Journey

Nemra witnessed an unprecedented crowd for the last rites. Before the cremation, traditional rituals were performed, and villagers showered flowers as the funeral procession moved through the narrow lanes of the village. Throughout the day, chants of “Shibu Soren Amar Rahe” (Long live Shibu Soren) echoed across the village.

Despite the rain, supporters stood firm, their eyes lowered in respect, hands folded in silence. Words failed, and only raw emotions spoke. It felt as if the very soul of Jharkhand was walking away through the winding paths, disappearing into a haze of tears.

Union ministers Jual Oram and Annapurna Devi, TMC MP Derek O’Brien, MP Pappu Yadav, Arjun Munda, Sudesh Mahto, DGP Anurag Gupta, along with Jharkhand ministers, MLAs, and many dignitaries were also present to bid farewell to the veteran leader.
