Ranchi, Oct 14: The Jharkhand chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has raised serious concerns over an extortion threat of Rs 2 crore made to Ranchi ENT specialist Dr. Samit Lal and has urged the state government to provide immediate security.

In a press statement, IMA office bearers said the demand has caused panic and a sense of insecurity among the medical community in Ranchi. They strongly condemned the threat.

According to the IMA, three days ago, Dubai-based Dhanbad Wasseypur gangster Prince Khan sent a WhatsApp message demanding Rs 2 crore from Dr. Lal. The message also included life threats to Dr. Lal and his family if the extortion was not paid.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Jharkhand IMA, demanded urgent action from the Ranchi administration and police, calling for the immediate arrest of the criminal. He also stressed the need for adequate security for Dr. Lal and his family so that he can continue his medical practice without fear.

The IMA further requested the state government to implement stringent central laws to ensure that medical professionals can serve the people of Jharkhand without threats or intimidation.

State IMA President Dr. A.K. Singh, Vice-President Dr. R.S. Das, State Coordinator Dr. Abhishek Ramadhin, along with Dr. Shambhu Singh and HBI Secretary, jointly appealed for enhanced security measures for doctors in Ranchi.
