Jamshedpur, Jan 17: The Tata Steel Zoological Park (TSZP) which is a medium-category zoo as per the Central Zoo Authority categorization celebrated its 34 Foundation Day on Tuesday.

The foundation stone of the zoo was laid on January 16, 1990.

Zoo imparting education and awareness

The zoo initially was set up with the idea to provide recreation and entertainment to the workers of Tata Steel Limited who are engaged in 8 hours of rigorous work every day.

But in the current scenario, the importance of the zoo has changed and the zoo has become a centre which caters education and awareness to the people of Jamshedpur on the issues of wildlife conservation, pollution, environmental issues and climate change.
